Newcomers Financial Support Program

A bridge to the American healthcare system.

When one comes to a new country, everything is new — new culture, new life, and new language. Many immigrants suffer from financial hardship and often postpone integration into the healthcare system, working at unrelated jobs just to survive. Some completely give up on their profession.

As time passes, re-entering the medical field becomes increasingly difficult due to the gap in practice — even when the necessary exams have been passed. This is why early integration is critical.

The WHF board approved this program to provide financial assistance at exactly the moment when newly immigrated healthcare professionals need it most.

Award Details

Single applicant

$6,000 max

Married applicant (family in US)

$7,500 max

Support duration

6 Months

  • $1,500 minimum must be spent directly on credentialing — exam fees, application fees, courses, or study materials.
  • This award does not disqualify you from future WHF scholarship programs.

Eligibility Criteria

You must meet all of the following criteria to be considered for this program.

  • Must be an active member of Whitetulip Health Foundation.
  • Must be a student or graduate of a medical school or healthcare professions school in another country.
  • Must have arrived in the USA within the last 6 months prior to submitting this application.
  • Must be currently residing in the USA and hold a valid legal immigration status.
  • Applicant must not be a WHF employee or a relative of a Board member or Selection Committee member.
  • All applicants must intend to pursue a medical career or medical education/training in the United States.

  • Collect all 8 required documents listed below.
  • Upload all documents and click Submit. Incomplete applications are not reviewed.
  • The Selection Committee reviews all completed applications monthly in the first week.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Completed applications are reviewed monthly by the Financial Assistance Selection Committee in the first week of the following month. Results are communicated by email.
