FMG Scholarship Program

Leveraging experience in the US medical system.

The purpose of the WHF Scholarship Program for Former Medical Graduates (FMG) with Clinical Experience or Academic Background is to provide financial support for those in the healthcare and medical profession who left their home country because of various reasons, now live in the USA, and study US medical exams or seek opportunities to continue their medical career in the United States.

This program helps integrate experienced foreign medical professionals within the US medical system — where their valuable professional skills and experiences can be fully utilized and recognized.

Unlike the IMG Scholarship, the FMG Program specifically targets graduates with prior clinical or academic standing in their home country, ensuring their expertise is not lost in the transition to the US healthcare system.

  • All 10 required documents must be submitted. Applications with any missing information will not be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

All requirements below must be met on the date of application.

  • Must be an active member of the Whitetulip Health Foundation.
  • Must currently reside in the United States and hold a valid legal immigration status.
  • Must hold a degree from a medical school or school of other healthcare professions.
  • Must have had professional standing in their home country prior to arriving in the USA — postgraduate medical training, active practice, academic/research activity, administrative-leadership role in a clinical or research facility, or an EB-1/EB-2 (NIW) permanent residency path.
  • Must demonstrate a clear plan to continue their medical career in the US: scheduling or passing USMLE (or equivalent), currently admitted to a US medical education or training program, or actively applying to one.
  • Must not be an employee of WHF or a relative of any Board member or Selection Committee member.

How to Apply

  • Applications open in January and July each year. Confirm the current period is active before applying.
  • Fill in all required fields of the WHF FMG Scholarship Application Form available below.
  • Collect all 10 required documents including your diploma, CV, personal statement, and career intention proof.
  • Upload all documents and submit. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

The form is available during the application periods in January and July only. Complete all fields and upload the required documents, then submit your application.

Completed applications are reviewed by the Scholarship Selection Committee in February and August, and results are announced by email.
