2nd Annual Pre-Health Convention
The next step toward a future in healthcare.
Whitetulip Health Foundation’s Pre-Health Convention brought together 127 participants from 19 states, including 72 high school and 40 pre-med students, to explore the next steps toward a future in healthcare.
Our board co-presidents opened the program with guidance drawn from their own experiences. Students explored questions about applying to college, building a strong CV, and understanding what medical schools look for in an applicant. Dr. Furkan offered practical advice on college and medical school applications, preparing for a healthcare career during high school, and writing an effective CV.
Dr. Liesel Copeland, Assistant Dean of Admissions and Medical Education at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, shared a detailed look at the application and admissions process. Finance specialist Esat Bayer from Harvard and Fahire Goknur Akarca from the University of Pennsylvania also delivered presentations, offering guidance as students planned their next steps.
Students created posters expressing their interest in healthcare careers. Two students presented their posters on stage, while five others shared their work with attendees and answered questions.
A panel featuring experts from medicine, dentistry, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, physician assistant programs, research, and undergraduate education introduced students to a range of academic and career paths. During the afternoon workshop, panelists joined students at their tables for small-group conversations, sharing personal experiences and answering individual questions.
Our heartfelt thanks to all the speakers, volunteers, and students who made this gathering possible.
