Bayesian Statistics: Interpretation of Probabilities

Boston Medical Forum will be hosting Edgar L. Milford MD as a speaker this month. He is an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and a senior physician in Renal Division at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He has been in practice more than 20 years. His clinical interests are chronic kidney disease, end stage renal diseases, and renal transplantation. He is a highly-respected clinician and teacher. He authored over 200 articles, abstracts, and chapters. The main theme of the lecture will be Bayesian Statistics and its use in medicine. Bayesian Statistics provide a formal mathematical method for combining prior information with current information at the design stage, during the conduct of the trial, and at the analysis stage. It is easier to implement adaptive trial designs using Bayesian methods than frequentist methods which are used in most traditional clinical trials.
